there were those cats
for whom life was just hunt and scratch
and they played all the time and they were my favorite pets
'cause they hunt, they scratch, they play, they purr as I watch a volleyball match
cats' life are so pleasant, complaisant, so puissant while mine I can't even snatch
everything is so distant, I write and think only foolish regrets
if I had some paws and claws to scratch
oh, how I envy my cats

I see you sell your soul
as a pusher in the crowd
as if richness was your goal
you should not let yourself drouse
I hear your mind drone
as a distant, nervous sound
and thus you are alone
and you never could be found

she thought she had to be that way

by wires wrapped, in a gutter thrown
she swallows each and every setback
it gets harder to bear life's sandbag
but why not squash up an opportunity
and make it into a lot of others?
she was saved and ripened, but now
what she sees, though, is less than dark
it's nothing
at all

I'd probably enjoy sleeping
but my bed embraces me
as the sun continues screaming
my name, basking the airstream
blowing chimes as I see
wind
waves
waffles
and then they all flee

when someone blocks your way

or just blow this one away
you can start being obssessed
or just blink once like a silent ray
you can move your feet
cross a broad street
find yourself lost in a beltway
